Te Wiki o Hauora Hinengaro 2021 / Mental Health Awareness Week 2021

A major kaupapa that Heemi Kapa-Kingi and others are part of is Soften Up Bro, which is a mental health movement designed to flip the narrative and attitude around male expression of emotion (Harden Up Bro) with a focus on tāne Māori. It is an initiative to encourage men to be vulnerable when navigating their emotions. Heemi puts the wero out to whānau to kōrero about these kaupapa as whānau around the dinner table during kai and any other opportunities that may present itself.
