Dr Taonui confirms that this is the eight time in nine days that Māori have been the ethnicity with the highest rate of positive cases and that all cases are 100% Delta. Noting that there are now sub variants of the original Delta virus of which study is still yet to show whether they are more lethal or just the same. On a positive note for Māori, there has been a 20% increase in the vaccination rate for Māori.
