The winners of the 2021 Pikihuia Awards, hosted by the Māori Literature Trust were announced in an online ceremony streamed on Saturday 30th of October. Brian Morris (Ngāti Kahungunu + Rongowhakaata), an Executive Director of Huia Publishers talks to us about these prestigious awards and the online ceremony as opposed to the usual face to face at Te Wharewhaka ō Pōneke, Wellington.
The ceremony recognised 18 Māori writers and their stories in a new format which have all been published in the book Huia Short Stories 14.
