Social media has been running hot with discontent and rumour following the Te Rūnanga Nui o Te Aupōuri online AGM announcement earlier this week. A unanimous decision to keep the community and kaumātua safe and host an online AGM was confirmed today by trustee, Maahia Nathan. However, he believes, with the region dropping to Level 2 at midnight, the AGM in December should be held in-person. He understands that snap lockdowns could still happen, but if it is possible, it should go ahead.
Te Hiku Media approached Nathan, following assertions from the community that the unanimous vote did not take place and that he was one of the trustees that abstained from voting.
