Based on his extensive research, Dr Rawiri Taonui predicts that there will be around five thousand Māori cases of Delta before Christmas. Dr Taonui also said despite the recent high increase in the Māori vaccination rate, it is likely that Māori will also remain the highest ethnicity of positive cases in Aotearoa. With all the concerning statistics for Māori, Dr Taonui emphasises the importance of ensuring that every whānau has a plan on how they will deal with Covid when someone contracts the virus.
