Climate change has long been a global issue as we see much of our natural environments depleting and noticeable changes to the seasons in the last few decades. Mike Smith, a long term advocate, activist and Māori international environmentalist from Ngāpuhi recently took a case to the Court of Appeal after the original case against a number of corporate giants including Fonterra was declined in the High Court. Smith's case to force these corporations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 was also declined by the Court of Appeal. Smith says this is an urgent matter, just as urgent as Covid-19.
