It has been just over three weeks since the commencement of the occupation at Maheatai, Taipa. Wikatana Popata has lead this kaupapa with the support of his whānau and hapū of Ngāti Kahu to see this land returned to all descendants of the two eponymous ancestors Te Parata and Kahutianui. Wikatana talks to us about how the occupation has has gone and touches on the Kura kaupapa Māori o Tūtūtarakihi returning to school after the Alert Level changes, due to Covid-19 in Te Tai Tokerau in recent weeks.
