Kaumātua o Tamaterau - Life Stories & Photographic Exhibition

Nov. 23, 2021, 12:43 p.m.

June Pitman talks to us about the Kaumātua o Tamaterau Life Stories and Photographic Exhibition that captures lived experiences of growing up in Tamaterau shared by some of the descendants of those whānau Māori who through more than five generations, have remained living on, and connected to their ancestral lands within the wider area of Tamaterau. June tells us that these stories are brief personal accounts as told to them, of growing up in the rohe of Tamaterau during a different era of time. Stories that needed to be captured today in order to be retold long into the future. The exhibition will be held at the Tamaterau Beach Hall on 9 - 17 December 2021, 10am - 4pm each day and is free entry.
