Access to 26,500 Unvaccinated Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau

Nov. 24, 2021, 1:11 p.m.

Seeking data from the Ministry of Health for those Māori who are still unvaccinated, Whānau Ora Chief Executive John Tamihere took a case to the High Court and has since gained access to data for 26,500 unvaccinated Māori in Tāmaki Makaurau. Despite these achievements in court so far, Tamihere says the case on Thursday will continue as our people in Te Tai Tokerau deserve their information as do the mana whenua health organisations working hard to protect our people ( Te Hiku Hauora, Hokianga Health, Ngāti Hine Hauora and Ngāpuhi Hauora). John Tamihere also mentioned the way in which Dr Bloomfield conducted himself when giving reason to withhold the information, saying even the High Court is frustrated as they have got a white man treating brown men as a second class citizen.
