TBC - About Stopping the Virus, Not People

Dec. 9, 2021, 1:27 p.m.

On the 15th of December, people living in Tāmaki Makaurau will be allowed to travel abroad as long as they're fully vaccinated or have had a negative test within 72 hours of departure. Earlier in the week, police released details on the two checkpoints that will be set up in Te Tai Tokerau, which the police and TBC will run collaboratively. ACT Party Leader David Seymour has come out saying that those manning the Northland borders and blocking roads are thugs. Rueben Taipari responds by saying that David's statement referring to the border control as thugs is that of an ignorant, red neck politician who doesn't know any better. Reiterating that the purpose of the Tai Tokerau Border Control has always been about stopping the Covid-19 virus from entering Te Tai Tokerau, not about stopping the people.
