Smokefree Aotearoa by 2025

Dec. 10, 2021, 1:19 p.m.

The Green Party welcome the Smokefree Action Plan released this week. Dr Elizabeth Kerekere Greens spokesperson for health joins us to speak about this plan and the contribution it will have towards Aotearoa becoming smokefree by 2025. Dr Kerekere reminds us that this has been something the Green Party have been pushing for a while now but the government had never really made any progress on. Dr Kerekere makes the point that this is a very bold action plan and says "there are aspects of it that probably haven't happened anywhere else in the world" while also saying that there are some concrete things that have been advocated for a long time now by the Cancer Society and others who care about the health of those who smoke.
