Raniera McGrath joins us to talk about a kaupapa Titiro whakamuri kia anga whakamua drawing on stories from kaikōrero around Te Tai Tokerau sharing their experiences with pandemics & epidemics of the past and how they managed and survived to tell the story. This is a campaign drawing on historical narratives, rangahau and facts about past mate urutā to socialise with the people of Te Tai Tokerau as a means of supporting pro-oranga choices. The campaign is centred around a collection of credible rangahau and historical facts, to help inform a uniquely Tai Tokerau narrative about “Oranga” amplifying positive and empowering kōrero tuku iho by Te Tai Tokerau for Te Tai Tokerau. Raniera speaks of some kaikōrero like Hinerangi Cooper-Puru, Shane Jones as well as Waihoroi and Rahera Shortland and the heartfelt kōrero they had contributed to this kaupapa that will be a great resource and can be found at angawhakamua.co.nz
