The annual Rātana celebrations historically draw in many whānau and members of the community to Rātana Pā near Whanganui. The celebrations mark the birthday of the Church's late founder, Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana. Mita Ririnui, spokesperson for the Rātana church talks to us about the impacts of Covid-19 on the celebrations and what we could expect to see. Mita encourages all the whānau to remain resolute, believe in the faith and where ever you may be continue to celebrate the birthday of Tahupōtiki Wiremu Rātana. Due to the Covid restrictions, the celebrations will not be as usual, however a livestream from Rātana Pā near Whanganui, Tauranga and elsewhere will be available for whānau to connect and join.
