Waitangi Commemorations 2022 and Tāmaki Makaurau

Jan. 19, 2022, 1:29 p.m.

Keeping us informed and up-to-date with the most current and accurate news, we are joined by Tūmamao Harawira, our correspondent based in Tāmaki Makaurau. Starting with Covid-19, Tūmamao did not have a great deal of updates except that the latest daily number of positive cases reached 14 within the community. As we are only weeks away from the annual Waitangi Day commemorations, Tūmamao also reminds us of the Government's decision last year to not attend Waitangi 2022 and how that may have been a bit premature, especially since Te Tai Tokerau has now made significant increases to the vaccination rate and are also very aware of the Covid-19 health and safety restrictions required at such events.
