Life with Omicron

Jan. 26, 2022, 3:54 p.m.

The Traffic Lights (Covid-19 Protection Framework) was introduced late 2021 to protect Aotearoa from Covid-19, while allowing people with My Vaccine Pass more freedoms. Rukuwai Tipene-Allen respondent based in Wellington gives us an update following the move of all of Aotearoa to the Red Light and new rules specifically addressing the correct use of face masks. Rukuwai says one of the new rules no longer allows people to wear a bandana or a t-shirt tied around their face it is strictly proper face masks at all times and medical grade masks for workers mandated to wear face-coverings in public-facing roles. Rukuwai then touches on international travel between Aotearoa and Rarotonga confirming that it remains quarantine-free despite the public outbreak of Omicron in Aotearoa.
