Te Taumata Wānanga Reo Online

March 10, 2022, 1:44 p.m.

Kura reo and wānanga reo play an integral role in the revitalization of not only te reo Māori but also te reo o te kāinga the language of home distinct to a particular rohe or iwi. Alana Thomas a founder and coordinator of Te Taumata Tai Tokerau Wānanga Reo talks to us about the upcoming online wānanga of which Alana also describes as an online symposium to be hosted by herself, Te Puaheiri Snowden and Te Amohaere Morehu. Alana says that Te Taumata is now in its fifth year running and that this is the first online wānanga reo that allows people with internet access to participate from near and far. With a lineup of esteemed reo Māori speakers from throughout Te Tai Tokerau who have supported this kaupapa from the start, this is one event that you don't want to miss.
