Partnership with Solomon Islands

Following news that the Soloman Islands and China were forging a security alliance, Defence Minister Peeni Henare met with Australian Defence Minister Peter Dutton to discuss this issue as neither New Zealand nor Australian intelligence anticipated the move.

Minister Henare says that Aotearoa has been committed to this partnership and the Solomon Islands were part of our "backyard".
