Just Dropped: New Waiata "Kapakapa"

April 19, 2022, 12:05 p.m.

In recent years many musicians from Aotearoa have been inspired to produce music in te reo Māori for both Māori and mainstream listeners. Louis Baker of Ngāpuhi has been in the music scene for over a decade now and joins us to talk about his latest waiata Kapakapa featuring Kings and produced by platinum award winner Rory Noble. Louis says “Kapakapa is about the heart that continues to beat for your one true love, and is likened to a butterfly and the flutter of its wings. This new funky waiata is in both Māori and Pākehā languages and can be found on all online music platforms.
