Respected Māori leader Tā Mark Solomon has been appointed Chair of the Oranga Tamariki Ministerial Advisory Board. Matthew Tukaki talks about his time as chair of the Ministerial Advisory Board and the responsibilities of looking into Oranga Tamariki. Tukaki says his job was done and he approached Tā Mark Solomon in December last year about taking on the role as chair, which Tā Solomon accepted the challenge and Minister Kelvin Davis accepted the recommendation. To help ensure that change was made, the Ministerial Advisory Board’s role was extended to monitor progress.
