If it's a kaupapa Māori on screen it needs to be Māori led

May 13, 2022, 12:54 p.m.

Ngā Aho Whakaari Executive Director, Lanita Ririnui says any project on screen that has Māori aspects needs to be led by Māori. Ririnui says Ngā Aho Whakaari has a long history and the legacy of the mahi lives on through the next generation.

The mission statement encapsulates her sentiments: Mā te ao kiriata e whakakanohi i tō tātau reo me ōna tikanga, kia āhei te ao māori ki te tū pakari ki runga i a Papatuanuku e takoto nei, ki raro ano hoki i a Rangi-e-tū-iho nei.
