Originally, Pene Tawhara, started Tama Tū as a way for Māori Men to maintain their whare tapa whā. A kaupapa that was driven to help tāne Māori better their overall wellness focusing on mental and physical attributes to depression that overwhelm tāne and eventually lead to suicide.
