Nov. 22, 2022, 5:17 p.m.

In this interview, we hear about Tia's new single Ko Wai Ahau, she shares who she is and where she is from. She is from Taranaki and Ngāti Maniapoto and was raised in Hastings, Hawkes Bay. She is finishing her final year at Massey University in Wellington.

She has always been a musical person she says, but the move to Wellington has helped her establish herself in this career, "being in Wellington, I am able to be in the industry and be able to make those connections" she said.

Tia's genre of music is Pop Music. She is learning more about her whakapapa Māori and her new single is inspired by a poem about moko kauwae that was written and gifted to her by Matiu Tahi from Tūhoe.

Inspired by the artist P!nk, Tia wants to perform and entertain her audiences. She speaks about the way P!nk includes acrobatics in her performances and she wants to also do this too.
