The kaitiaki of Te Rerenga Wairua (Ngāti Kuri) has a busy year ahead as they wade through the effects of flood waters and damage to infrastructure whilst navigating opportunities to better their iwi. Harry Burkhardt (Ngāti Kuri) says that the re-opening of Ka Uri! (previously Kauri Kingdom) will offer exciting opportunities to the small Far North town of Awanui, with the prospect of increased tourism to the area as travellers head to Te Rerenga Wairua.
