Alana Thomas Appointed As Māori Land Court Judge

Crown officials, lawyers, whānau and friends, along with the home people of Ngāti Rēhia, gathered at Te Tii over the weekend to witness the swearing-in of Judge Alana Miriana Thomas of Ngāti Rehia, Ngāti Kurī and Ngāpuhi, who has recently been appointed as a permanent judge to the Māori Land Court. Far North District councillor Tāmati Rākena attended the occasion and has returned feeling enormously proud to be a Māori from Te Taitokerau.
