Restoring balance to the moana at the core of rāhui

Dec. 12, 2017, 3:32 p.m.

Unsustainable management has lead to local whānau going to a tikanga Māori approach to save and replenish moana in Mataitai Bay.  A rāhui spanning over two years has been called by the local community and a pou is to be erected at the bay as a signal, a reminder and a kaitaiki.  Local whānau hope that the ceremony will attract those interested in developing sustainability within the marina.
