Contractors and road workers have been given the green light to cut back on trees to eliminate further damage in the event of another extreme weather event. Staunch taiao advocate Rueben Taipari Porter (Te Rarawa) says that although precautions must be put in place, why couldn't contractors communicate with local families in the area to care for our ngāhere and taiao?
