Māori Are Wanting Better Representation in Local Government

Māori want better representation on our councils after the local government elections for Te Taitokerau, where four new Māori councillors were elected to the Far North District Council, including the election of mayor Moko Tepania. Census Te Taitokerau spokesperson Raniera Kaio says a strong Māori presence was felt during the local government election campaign, proving that there can be better outcomes for Māori if we get out there and vote.
