We talk with Verna Apio Takashima at Pacifika Festival about the art of kapa making in Hawaiʻi. The early 1800's nearly saw the extinction of kapa making in Hawaiʻi with the arrival Western fabrics. Verna talks about the gradual revival of kapa and the relationship between her and her brother, Solomon Apio, to the history of kapa making.
