New Acting CEO for Te Aupōuri

Nov. 12, 2020, 3:55 p.m.

Te Rūnanga Nui o Te Aupōuri has appointed their new acting CEO, Mariameno Kapa-Kingi who brings with her 40 years of experience in social, economic and cultural development from field, to management, through to governance.

Despite not making it to parliament as a Māori Party candidate in the recent election, Kapa-Kingi is leading her people in a highly political realm where positioning Te Aupōuri as the designers of their own future is the goal.

She's the first female to take on the CEO role and with an iwi base between 9,500 - 10,000, Kapa-Kingi has the strength of her people behind her.

Her first priority is to get to know the people, their aspirations and begin to flesh these out as well as setting a self-determined set of rules around iwi engagement moving forward.
