For six years Te Hau Āwhiwhio ō Ōtangarei Trust have been fundraising to provide Christmas in a Box, packages that consist of staple foods for those in the community that are the most in need.
The initiative has grown bigger each year and this year they were joined by church groups and other charity organisations to help pack over one thousand of what they like to call " A Blessing in a Box ". This year there were over two hundred people who came from far and wide to share the love and help pack the boxes.
Previously delivered Te Tai Tokerau wide, this year they are focussing on the Whangārei region while other community groups have stepped up to support whānau of the Mid and Far north.
