Awhi Kaitaia

Sept. 1, 2017, 3:54 p.m.

With government failing to adequately address poverty and the cost of living skyrocketing, there are whanau who are often faced with sacrifices just to be able to put food on the table like not paying the electricity bill or falling behind in rent etc.

Anne Tauroa has taken it upon herself to help those whanau of Kaitaia that are really struggling to make ends meet. 'Awhi Kaitaia' is a new name to an old kaupapa previously known as 'Feed the Whanau' which Anne has been leading for a few years now that puts kai on the table of people that are in need. Food is often donated from various local businesses and stores and fundraising by raffling kete made by Anne which proceeds go to the Awhi Kaitaia kaupapa. You can contact Anne or Awhi Kaitaia via facebook if you are in need or if you would like to help with the kaupapa.
