Te Tiriti 101 - For Tauiwi

Feb. 2, 2018, 3:11 p.m.

When the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in 1840, Māori chiefs acknowledged that more immigrants would be coming to Aotearoa from across the seas.

The Agreement known as the Treaty of Waitangi is the first immigration document that provides for the lawful migration and settlement of all other people in New Zealand.

The Citizens Advice Bureau holds seminars to help imigrants understand The Treaty of Waitangi and where they fit in.
