A Native American Waitangi

Feb. 13, 2018, 12:09 p.m.

Native American tribes share many similarities with Māori and other pacific peoples, and these similarities brought a number of indigenous people to this year's Waitangi Day Celebrations. We chatted with Rebecca 'Becky' Kinley, a Native American of the Lummi Nation from the northern tip of Washington State USA and lower British Columbia in Canada.

Becky tells us about her Waitangi experience, how the waka is important to her people, the aroha that she feels being around other indigenous peoples, and what she would take back home from her experience.
