#how2maori

Aug. 3, 2015, 5:30 p.m.

The production of our teaser trailer for our new webseries #how2maori has been a Māori language week activity for Te Hiku Media.

The series follows the Rāpiti whānau, who recently moved back to the kāinga from the Big Smoke, on their journey to reconnect with their roots and to learn how to Māori. The series plays on the fear and humour found in learning tikanga Māori and marae protocol, and it allows the audience to join the Rāpiti whānau as they discover their whānau marae and relatives.

"We all know how challenging it can be going to the marae when you've been out of touch with tīkanga Māori. But it's something we should all know how to do. This series aims to show us some of those things in a funny, light hearted way. We put the teaser together in about 3 days and since posting it at Midnight on Saturday, we've had over 3,000 views."

"We've had some great feedback from the whānau, and people are calling our actors saying, 'Can we speak to Marara please?' We look forward to making this series a reality."

Check out the teaser trailer for a sneak peak.
